Geneseo as per
the 2000 census has a population of 9,654 in the town with
7,579 being in the village. The village of Geneseo is located
at Routes 20A and 39 approximately 30 miles from Rochester,
New York, a quick drive via the I-390 expressway.
The County Seat
of Livingston is located in Geneseo village. The Livingston
County Court House was built there in 1898 and also SUNY Geneseo
is located in the village. Village businesses has grown substantially
in the 1990s and now there is a large Wal-Mart and Wegmans
Plaza just outside the village.
The town of Geneseo
is nestled in the beautiful Genesee Valley and is a rich agricultural
community. Geneseo also borders Conesus Lake on its west side
with about 300 residents. Geneseo supplies many thousands
of people with water from their water filter treatment plant
at the lake.
